POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River sophomores Mary Grace Turner (Leakesville; Greene County) and Noah Barron (Hoover, Ala.) have been named Wildcats of the Month, the school announced Wednesday.
MARY GRACE TURNER
The power stroke that put Turner among the nation's elite home run hitters early in the season has returned. The William Carey signee was one of PRCC's top hitters over the last month, hitting .450 with a .577 on-base percentage and 1.100 slugging percentage. Of Turner's 18 hits in the month, five were doubles and seven left the yard. Turner also hit 18 RBIs in the month and walked 10 times against just five strikeouts.
This season, Turner is hitting .392 with 12 doubles, 13 home runs, 36 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
Like Turner, Barron was lethal for No. 5 Pearl River in the month of April. The New Orleans signee hit .381 with a .459 OBP and .698 slugging percentage. Eleven of Barron's 24 hits in the month were extra-bases hits with four home runs. He also collected 18 RBIs and scored 16 times.
Heading into the final doubleheader of the regular season Friday, Barron is hitting .315 with seven home runs, 36 RBIs, 15 doubles and 39 runs scored.
