MCC Baseball Has Successful Semester In Classroom

The Meridian Community College baseball team put in a lot of hard work on the baseball field this fall. They also put in a lot of hard work in the classroom. That hard work in the classroom paid off in the form of a team GPA of 3.36 for the fall semester.

"We have a special group of young men that take pride in all they do starting with the classroom. We believe there is a direct correlation between the discipline and work ethic needed for success in the classroom and how that translates to the field of play," said Head Coach Dillon Sudduth.

Coach Sudduth continued, "With the direction and support from our Academic Advisor Lori McLain and all the wonderful instructors here at MCC we are able to provide these young men with an environment that is conducive to academic achievement."

The baseball team had multiple members who were singled out for their individual accomplishments. Sophomore Tyler Lantz was named to the President's List for the Fall 2018 semester. The team also had many members named to the Dean's List. Austin Huggins, David Dunn, Edwin Smith, Jackson Bridges, Luke Wallner, Markarius Lee, Mack Pickering, Luke Files, Briar Russell, and Houston Parker were all named to the Dean's List for Fall 2018.

The student-athletes will return to the classroom on Monday, January 7 to start the 2019 Spring semester. They will get the baseball season started Monday, February 11 against Spring Hill.
