PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast opens the 2019 baseball season Feb. 9 with the first of three home dates at Ken "Curly" Farris Field, coach Rodney Batts announced.
Jefferson College, from Missouri, will play the first doubleheader starting at noon. Baton Rouge and Northwest Florida State follow over the next week.
There will be 14 home dates, including an MACJC slate that includes Holmes, Mississippi Delta, Pearl River, Northwest, Meridian, East Mississippi, Southwest and Itawamba.
The team that wins the regular-season title in the state will advance to the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament and host the six-team event. Defending national champion LSU Eunice will be in the field, as well as the winners of four best-of-three qualifying series among the Nos. 2-9 MACJC teams.
The NJCAA Division II Tournament will be held in Enid, Okla., May 25-June 1.
