MGCCC opens with host Itawamba in Region 23

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will play the final game of the first day of the 2019 NJCAA Region 23 Tournament in Fulton on Wednesday.

 

The Bulldogs (28-16) are seeded sixth in the tournament and will face No. 4 Itawamba (39-6-1), which won the MACJC title and will host, at 7 p.m. It's the third game in a six-team, double-elimination tournament, which will conclude Saturday or Sunday.

 

No. 1 LSU Eunice (48-6) opens the tournament against No. 9 Northwest (33-12) at noon Wednesday. No. 5 Jones (37-10) plays No. 6 Pearl River (36-12) at 3:30 p.m.

 

The winner advances to the NJCAA Division II World Series, which will be played May 25-June 1 in Enid, Okla.
