POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The accolades continue to roll in for Pearl River freshman Leif Moore (St. Martin).
The NJCAA announced on Wednesday that the right-hander's contribution to a combined no hitter at Nunez last week was good enough to earn him the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week honor.
The honor comes one day after Moore was named the MACJC Pitcher of the Week.
Moore partnered with Reid Golemon (Moselle; South Jones) to throw a seven-inning no hitter at Nunez. The duo's combined no hitter came on the heels of a complete game no hitter from Cade Hodges(Brookhaven; Loyd Star).
Moore struck out 16 batters in six innings without allowing a hit or surrendering a walk.
Moore has had a stellar start to his collegiate career. In 10 scoreless innings, Moore has struck out 22 while allowing just one hit. Moore is also 2-0 on the season.
Moore's 19.80 strikeouts-per-nine ranks second in then NJCAA's second division.
The Wildcats will set out on a three-series road trip, first visiting Northwest Florida State College on Saturday before playing at Spring Hill JV on March 11 and Northeast on March 14. Pearl River returns to The Dub to host Copiah-Lincoln on March 18.
