POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College looks to get back on track and open South Division the right way this week when the Wildcats make their first road trip of the season to East Central.

Kickoff Thursday at Bailey Stadium in Decatur is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

PRCC (1-1 overall) suffered its first loss of the season last week in a 34-21 defeat to No. 5 Northwest at Poplarville. The Wildcats fell behind 27-0 midway through the second quarter and were unable to overcome the deficit.

"We're going to go back to work and get our kids ready for the next game, like we always do," said first-year head coach Ted Egger. "We'll be ready to go next week. It's the next game, the division opener, and we expect to be ready for it."

The Wildcats have gotten off to a solid start, especially on offense, where sophomore quarterback Justin Agner gotten comfortable as the starter.

Agner, who transferred from Kent State in the offseason, has completed 35 of 67 passes for 397 yards and five touchdowns to go along with three interceptions.

"He's as tough as there is," said Egger. "He's the quarterback you want for your program. He's a leader, he's tough and there's nobody else I'd want leading our team."

PRCC has shown good balance so far on offense, as the Wildcats have rushed for 382 yards in their two games to go with the 397 yards passing.

East Central, the defending South Division champions, are also 1-1 after the first two games. The Warriors lost their opener 49-14 to Holmes, then won last week 27-20 in double overtime over Northeast. Both games were on the road.

THE SERIES

This is the 78th meeting between the Wildcats and the Warriors, with PRCC leading the series 52-21-4. ECCC has won two straight in the series, with Pearl River's last win coming in 2014 by a 10-2 margin at Decatur.

Last season, East Central defeated the Wildcats 35-21 at Poplarville.
