RAYMOND – Two Hinds Community College football players were recognized by the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges on Sept. 12 for their stellar performances during the 35-31 victory over Itawamba Community College on Sept. 7.
Freshman quarterback Tylan Morton (Griffin, Ga.), won MACJC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 19 out of 32 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns to lead the offense to victory over Itawamaba. Morton averaged 15.57 yards per completion and accounted for 308 yards of the 458 total yards of offense Hinds accumulated throughout the game.
Sophomore safety Byron Galvin (Vicksburg) won MACJC Defensive Player of the Week after making some big defensive plays throughout the game to help lead the Hinds defense to a victory over ICC. Galvin had a highlight reel, one-handed interception which eventually led to a score. Galvin also forced a fumble, had a sack and collected 11 total tackles.
