CHARLOTTE – After racking up seven receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown in last Saturday's MACJC Semifinal victory against Jones College, Northwest sophomore receiver Braden Smith has been named Offensive Player of the Week by both the MACJC and NJCAA, the two organizations announced this week.
Smith's 164 receiving yards became his career-best single-game performance, shattering his previous high of 147 yards in the 2018 season opener against East Central. His season total of 670 receiving yards has eclipsed the 537 yards he posted during his freshman campaign.
Smith is the third Northwest standout to earn Player of the Week honors, following fellow receiver Cameron Wynn and Ranger tailback Jaquerrious Williams.
Now ranked at No. 4 in the nation, Northwest (8-2) will host top-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Bobby Franklin Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
