Week 7: The Stock is Rising

Each week we highlight the MS JUCO football players that were the best of the best, delivered for their teams, and helped themselves in increasing their value with senior colleges and universities.

  The Stock is Rising for these Players:

Quarterbacks

Northwest redshirt sophomore QB Michael Hiers is coming off of a 16/19 for 337 yards and four touchdown performance last week. Hiers is a two-time JUCOWeekly Big Shot of the week recipient and has thrown for 969 yards this season completing 70.5 % of his passes

MS Gulf Coast freshman QB Philip Short was 22/27 for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win versus Southwest last week.

Wide Receivers

Pearl River sophomore WR Latreal Jones currently leads the conference with 33 catches in six games.

Itawamba sophomore WR Qua Davis has 30 catches and five touchdowns in five games.

 

Runningbacks

Jones freshman RB Romal Webb continues to lead the conference with 473 rushing yards in four games. Webb is averaging 118.3 yards per game.

MS Gulf Coast sophomore RB Deondre House ranks second with 457 rushing yards.

Hinds freshman RB Dajon Richard rushed for 157 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in the win last week against Pearl River. In six games, Richard averaged 109.3 yards  and totaled 437 rushing yards during the abbreviated season. 

 

Defense

Pearl River sophomore LB Noah Mitchell leads the league in total tackles with 83 in six games.

Northeast sophomore LB Jamarcus Smith ranks second in the league with 58 total tackles.

Northeast freshman LB Carter Bonds finishes the regular season with 52 total tackles and currently ranks third in the conference in total tackles.

Itawamba sophomore LB Corley Hooper secured 20 total tackles and 3 TFL's last week and is currently tied for third in the conference in total tackles.

 

Special Teams

Northeast freshman kicker John Ellis Murrah leads the conference with 33 points.

Hinds sophomore kicker Connor Smith ranks second in the conference with 30 points.
