ELLISVILLE – Former Jones College guard Sayveon Bumpers as signed a scholarship to play college basketball at William Carey University this fall.
Bumpers, who helped JC to back-to-back 20-win seasons, is the record seventh Bobcat to ink with a four-year program this offseason.
"I'm really proud of Sayveon," head coach Randy Bolden said. "He worked extremely hard on and off the court to put himself in a position to further his education and basketball career."
Six of his former teammates signed with West Alabama, LSU-Alexandria, Southern Arkansas, Elizabeth City State, Francis Marion University and East Texas Baptist University.
In two seasons as a reserve guard, Bumpers saw action in 48 games, averaging just under four points and two rebounds per game with 32 assists, 30 steals and six blocks. He shot 43 percent from the floor and 74 percent from the free throw line.
Bumpers was a MAC North/South All-Star and Magnolia Hoops Head of the Class out of Quitman High School.
Bumpers is one of 17 Bobcats to sign with a four-year school in the last three seasons.
