The long awaited JUCO basketball season is set to start later this month. Official practices have begun across the conference and the country. In Mississippi, 30 teams (15 men and 15 women's programs) will compete for a conference crown aiming to earn bids to the NJCAA National tournament in March.

In women's play, five different programs have hoisted a conference title in the last ten years. They were East MS, Jones, Co-Lin, East Central, and Itawamba. Jones College won three straight conference crowns in 2017, 2018, and again in 2019. View full women's champions list here http://www.jucoweekly.org/champions/champs_wbkb

On the men's side, six different teams have won conference titles over the last ten years. They were Pearl River, East MS, Jones, Southwest, Itawamba, and MS Gulf Coast.  Pearl River has won four conference championships in the last ten years while MS Gulf Coast was the only team to win back-to-back conference titles in recent years. The Bulldogs won in 2011 and in 2012. View full champions list here http://www.jucoweekly.org/champions/champs_mbkb

We will look deeper into the league and the talent across the magnolia state leading up to the start of the season.
