Coahoma Lady Tiger Softball Scores Another Signing

CLARKSDALE- Coahoma Softball continues to make waves in the MACJC Conference. Lady Tiger Kanisha Hodges has signed a scholarship with Mississippi University for Women.

Hodges achieved a .185 batting average, 15 hits and two RBIs. She brought her best performance to the Meridian game on April 27, 2019. Hodges was 2-for-3 with two singles, two stolen bases and an RBI.

MUW kept watch on Hodges' hard work and tenacity. The outfielder from Columbus, Mississippi will be returning to her hometown to flaunt her athleticism on a higher level. Hodges and her family mark the signing as an exceptional achievement.

"I've been thinking about playing for the 'W' for a while, but I wasn't sure until after I visited the campus and met the coach. I'm from Columbus, and I'm coming back to continue my college career as well as my softball career; it was a no brainer. I get to showcase my talent even more in my city," said Hodges.

Hodges' leadership on and off the field is evidence that her family has consistently been a main source of motivation.

"Signing means a lot to me because if it weren't for me playing at CCC, then it wouldn't have been possible for me to show off my talents. I probably wouldn't have gotten the recognition that I have today to play at a University," said Hodges. "My family and I feel very confident about my decision signing to the 'W.' They were overwhelmed when I told them about me playing at MUW. They can't wait to see me ball out back at home again. Plus, it will be easier for them to attend and support me."
Hodges' experience with playing softball in the MACJC Conference will be a great asset to the MUW team. She fully enjoyed her days as a student-athlete at CCC.

"It was a good experience. The environment was way different from my hometown, but I managed to work it out by balancing school, sports and social life. I'm glad I chose CCC as my school and HBCU as it has prepared me for the world," said Hodges.

This Lady Tiger's tremendous athleticism is a product of Coahoma's persistent commitment to its reach for victory in athletics. The Coahoma Community College Tiger family sends out huge congratulations to Hodges for a great Tiger Nation achievement!
