The Meridian Community College Lady Eagles got off to a quick start Monday night but couldn't hold on to that pace in falling to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. The Lady Eagles struggles on the offensive end in the 2nd quarter allowed the Lady Bulldogs to build an insurmountable lead. The Lady Eagles fell by the final score of 63-35.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 5-4 lead courtesy of a three-pointer from Sarah Allen. Unfortunately that would be the last time the Lady Eagles held the lead. The Lady Bulldogs used their height advantage to get multiple points in the paint and build a 15-10 lead at the end of the first.
The second quarter would see the Lady Eagles outscored 12-6. The Lady Eagles could not get any shots to fall and the Lady Bulldogs took advantage to take a 27-16 lead into the half.
The Lady Eagles offensive struggles continued throughout the third and fourth quarters. The Lady Eagles struggled against the Lady Bulldogs height advantage. The Lady Eagles were outscored 25-10 over the final quarter to allow the Lady Bulldogs to get the win.
With the loss the Lady Eagles fall to 9-11 on the season. The Lady Eagles will be back in action Thursday, February 14 against East Central Community College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 in Graham Gymnasium on the campus of Meridian Community College.
