UTICA –Sophomore guard Victoria Johnson (Jackson) was selected as a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) First Team All-American, First Team All-Region 23, and First Team All-State for her stellar career and performance on the court this past season (2018-2019) for the Hinds Community College Lady Bulldogs basketball program.
As a freshman (2017-2018), Johnson was honored as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-American and First Team All-Region 23 as she finished second in the NJCAA with 22.6 points per game (ppg).
Johnson continued her stellar play this season as she played in 22 games for the Lady Bulldogs and averaged 21.6 points per game while shooting 44.1% from the field and 34.2% from beyond the three-point line. Her 21.6 points per game ranked ninth in the NJCAA. Johnson scored double-digit points in all 22 games she played in. She also scored 20 or more points in 13 games this season and 30 or more points in two games. Her season high in scoring came in a 77-67 win over Holmes in which Victoria scored 38 points.
Johnson was also prolific from the free throw line as she went 130 – 155 from the charity stripe. Her 83.9% free throw shooting percentage ranked 13th in the NJCAA.
Johnson will surely go down in history as one of the best players to ever play for the Hinds Lady Bulldogs. She finished her career at Hinds with 1,018 points scored.
