South Pike High School's Abbey Gallager has signed a scholarship to play basketball for the Lady Bears in 2020-21.
In her final season with Coach Hilton Harrell's Lady Eagles, Gallager averaged 10.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game as the team compiled a 16-9 record and advanced to the 2nd round of the MHSAA South State post-season.
Harrell said Gallager, a 5' 7" guard, "is a quality student-athlete, a 4.0 student, with a great attitude. She's a hard worker with a lot of dedication."
Also, Harrell said Southwest fans will see in Gallager a "player a coach loves to coach. She'll do what she's asked. She has a lot of character and gives a lot of effort, just what a team needs."
Lady Bears head coach Brent Harris said in Gallager he thinks "we have a steal in the South Pike graduate. Abbey can score and make plays for her teammates. She is a very skilled guard who will take a charge defensively (and) will compete at all of our guard spots next season. Southwest welcomes Abbey as a future Lady Bear."
