Casey CarterHead Men's Basketball Coach Southwest graduate Casey Carter begins his first year as the head coach of the Bears basketball program after spending last season at the helm of the women’s team. Prior to coming to Southwest, Carter spent three years as assistant coach of the men’s team at Jones County Junior College. A McComb native, Carter attended North Pike High School and played basketball for the Jaguars before graduating in 1999. He then spent the next two years at Southwest where he received an Associate of Arts degree in 2001. The University of Southern Mississippi was Carter’s next stop. He served two years as a manager for the men’s basketball team and graduated in 2003 with a B.S. degree in Coaching Administration. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from USM in 2004. Carter began his coaching career by serving as assistant coach for the boy’s and girl’s basketball teams at Forrest County Agricultural High School for two years (2003-2005). He then took over as head coach of the boy’s squad and led the Aggies to back-to-back appearances in the 4A South State playoffs before departing for Jones County in 2007. Carter and his wife Rebecca have a daughter, Lillian Olivia, and a son, Wilks. |
