Five members of the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans baseball team recently received All-State honors and one was named All-Region XXIII.
Freshman first baseman Danny Springer was named All-Region XXIII and 1st Team All-State (North Division) for his efforts in leading the Trojans to a second consecutive round of post-season play.
Mississippi Delta finished the season in third place in the North Division with a 14-10 division mark and ended the year at 24-20 overall after falling to East Central Community College in the first round of the State Playoffs.
Springer finished the year with a .343 batting average including 47 hits, 12 doubles, 11 homeruns, 38 RBI’s and 36 runs.
Sophomore infielder Eagle Weustney also received 1st Team All-State North honors. Weustney finished the year with a .338 batting average which included 49 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, seven homeruns, 34 RBI’s and 35 runs.
Three freshmen, Josh Duhon, Brandon Cummins, and Colby Manor, received 2nd Team All-State North honors. Duhon pitched 10 games for the Trojans going 4-2 with one save, striking out 23 and giving up 16 walks. He had a 5.13 ERA.
Outfielder Brandon Cummins hit .375 for the year with 39 hits, six doubles, one triple, one homer, 15 RBI’s and 27 runs. Outfielder Colby Manor hit .315 for year with 34 hits, five doubles, one triple, two homers, 26 RBI’s, and 23 runs.
