Clinton, MS - The Holmes Bulldogs are heading back the NJCAA men's basketball national championship tournament for the third time in the last seven seasons with their 81-56 win over Northeast MS in the Region XXIII finals Friday night.
Brandon Weatherspoon led the Bulldogs with 22 points while Tyler Talley poured in 20 points and Kaleb Higgins dumped in 14. Holmes hot shooting continued in the regional finals as they shot a blistering 47.3 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from three-point land. Holmes beat 12th seeded MS Gulf Coast, 4th seeded LSU Eunice, No. 1 seeded Pearl River, and No. 2 seeded Northeast in the tournament to win the region XXIII crown.
The Bulldogs bolt to 15-3 and advance to the NJCAA national championship tournament which will commence on Monday April 19.
The NJCAA will hold the Division I Men's Selection Show at 6 p.m. Sunday night on https://www.njcaa.org/network. The NJCAA Division I Men's Tournament features 24 teams - 16 automatic district qualifiers and 8 additional at-large selections that will be announced during the selection show.
